How have I never heard of any of these movies? seriously, I've heard of 6 of them. I know the selection of movies that actually comes to town is very limited but we still have TV, I still rent movies... how have I not seen any previews for these?
ReplyDeleteP.S. The theater in crookston is the nation's oldest continuously operating theater.
Fun fact about Crookston! I think you make a good point about the Oscars. You have only heard of 6 of the movies I listed and you probably represent the average American movie-goer. But one of the reasons the Academy expanded the best picture nominations from 5 movies to 10 movies this year is so that more main-stream movies would get nominated (like last years Wall-E and The Dark Knight). As you can see from my predictions, I don't think that is going to happen, and instead the Oscars will continue to celebrate small, independent movies that no one has heard of. Unfortunate indeed.
ReplyDeleteA week after my predictions and already I know that one of my predictions is wrong. Amelia is a flop - no way will Hillary Swank be nominated!
ReplyDeleteJust saw "Where the Wild Things Are". A bit of a disappointment. Going to see "An Education" soon - will stay away from "Amelia", based on the reviews, all of which say it stinks.
ReplyDeleteLoved "Bright Star" and looking forward to "Precious".
